For most wall-art and event orders we recommend the microfiber suede — it’s fully opaque so wall color doesn’t show through, photographs beautifully under event lighting, and the plush surface gives saturated blacks and vivid color. Choose canvas-weave when you need a rigid, gallery-style hang or a backdrop that will be reused many times.

Printing Methods & Color

Quokka Prints uses dye-sublimation for custom tapestries. The design is printed onto transfer paper and then heat-pressed at roughly 400°F, turning the ink to gas that bonds directly into the polyester fibers. Because the color becomes part of the fabric rather than sitting on top, the result is breathable, soft to the touch, crack-proof, and highly resistant to fading — even after repeated washing.

Sublimation needs polyester (or a high-poly blend) to bond, which is why our brightest, most photographic tapestries are poly-based. For natural cotton looks we use a pigment process that produces a softer, more muted palette. Whatever the substrate, send artwork at 150 dpi at full print size in RGB; for crisp edges on logos and text, vector files (AI, EPS, PDF) reproduce best.

Sizes, Finishing & Hanging

Common sizes run from a compact small (about 40×30 in) for above a desk, to medium (60×50 in) as a bedroom focal point, to large (80×60 in) for a full accent wall, and oversized backdrops at 90×90 in and up. We can also produce fully custom dimensions for booths and stages.

Standard finishing is a clean, hemmed edge on all four sides. Optional add-ons include grommets for rod or hook hanging, a sewn rod pocket along the top, or a pole-pocket backdrop finish for trade-show stands. For pin-up hanging, no hardware is needed — push-pins or small adhesive hooks at the corners are enough for lightweight fabrics.

Per-unit cost falls steeply as quantity rises, because setup, color-matching, and press calibration are spread across more pieces. A single one-off tapestry carries the full setup overhead; by a dozen or more, you’re paying close to material-and-labor cost.
